SEO Packages for Small Business in India

What does SEO actually cost for a small Indian business — and what's worth paying for? An honest buyer's guide to market prices, what real packages include, and the red flags in cheap offers.

Oct 2026 · 9 min read · By GorillaSEO

Every small business owner in India eventually faces the same question: "How much should SEO cost?" The answers you get are all over the map — one quote says ₹7,500/month, another says ₹75,000/month, and both call it a "complete SEO package."

They are not selling the same thing. This guide explains what small businesses actually need, what the Indian market typically charges (with honest ranges, not fake precision), and how to spot the packages that will waste your money. We're an agency, so read our own pricing accordingly — but we'd rather you buy smart than buy from us.

What a small business actually needs

Most local service businesses — a clinic, a repair shop, a coaching center, a boutique — need a short list of fundamentals done well, not a long list of deliverables done cheaply:

Google Business Profile that works

For local businesses, the map pack is where the calls come from. An optimized, compliant, review-generating profile is the single highest-ROI line item for most small businesses. Anything sold as "local SEO" that skips the GBP is suspect.

Pages that match real searches

One solid page per service, written around what customers actually type ("dentist in Nandgram", not "smile solutions"). Most small business sites have 5–15 pages; each one should earn its place.

Technical basics, not a science project

Fast loading on mobile, crawlable pages, no broken structure, basic schema. A 5-page service site does not need an enterprise technical audit — it needs someone to check the fundamentals and fix what's broken.

A few honest backlinks and listings

Directory citations, a handful of genuine local links, and a profile that earns reviews organically. Not hundreds of links a month — that's where cheap packages quietly burn you.

Everything beyond this — heavy content production, digital PR, multi-city campaigns — is a growth-stage purchase. A package that bundles growth-stage work for a shop with one location is upselling you.

The Money

What the Indian market typically charges

These are commonly-seen market ranges from published 2026 Indian SEO pricing guides — not quotes, and not a promise of what any specific agency will charge. Use them as a sanity check, not a rate card.

Basic local SEO

₹8k–₹20k/month
  • Keyword research (small set)
  • On-page basics
  • GBP setup or optimization
  • Basic technical check
  • Monthly rank report

Suits: single-location shops in low-competition niches.

Premium / growth SEO

₹50k–₹1L+/month
  • Multi-city or national targeting
  • Content program at scale
  • Digital PR and authority building
  • Dedicated strategy + account team

Suits: competitive industries, e-commerce, national brands.

For one honest data point: our own Starter plan starts from ₹15,000/month — local SEO for a single location — with Growth from ₹30,000 and Full GEO + SEO from ₹50,000. We put our numbers on the pricing page because a business that can't see the price shouldn't have to chase it.

One-time projects exist too: technical audits and one-off fixes are commonly charged as project fees (market guides commonly cite starting around ₹15,000 for a basic technical audit). If your site just needs a cleanup, a project is often better value than a retainer.

Red flags in cheap packages

Cheap is not always bad — but certain patterns are reliable warning signs that the package will cost you more in damage than you saved in fees:

"Guaranteed #1 ranking": CONFIRMED Nobody can guarantee rankings — not even Google employees. Google's own guidance says to be wary of SEOs making guarantees. The guarantee is the flag, not the feature.

Keyword-count pricing ("25 keywords for ₹20,000"): UNPROVEN Keywords are not units of work — a page ranks for dozens of related terms whether you list them or not. Keyword-count packages measure paperwork, not results.

Mass link packages ("50 guest posts, 80 blog comments / month"): These numbers look like deliverables and act like footprints. Bulk low-quality links are exactly what earns penalties — a real link is worth more than a hundred spammy ones.

Secret process, no reporting: If an agency won't tell you what it does each month and won't show you analytics you can verify yourself, the black box is hiding a lack of work — or work that wouldn't survive daylight.

Long lock-ins demanded up front: SEO takes months to compound — that's genuine. But a 12-month contract on day one, before they've shown you a single result, is the agency protecting itself from its own churn. Month-to-month or short commitments are fairer.

Buy Smart

Questions to ask before you buy

Ask these of any agency — including us. Good answers are specific; bad answers are slogans.

"What will you do in month one?"

The answer should be an audit and fundamentals: technical check, GBP review, keyword mapping. If month one is "link building and content" with no diagnosis, they're executing before understanding.

"How will I know it's working?"

Expect named metrics: ranking positions for agreed keywords, organic traffic from your analytics, GBP calls and direction requests — not "visibility score" black boxes. And ask to see a sample report.

"What do you need from me?"

Honest agencies need your input: access, service details, customer language, review participation. If they need nothing from you, they're running a template, not a strategy.

"What happens if I leave?"

You should keep everything built for you — content, links, GBP access, analytics history. If deliverables are held hostage, that's a hostage, not a package.

FAQ

Asked, answered.

How much does SEO cost for a small business in India?

Commonly-seen market ranges for 2026 put basic local SEO at roughly ₹8,000–₹20,000/month, standard SME SEO at ₹20,000–₹50,000/month, and premium or national campaigns at ₹50,000–₹1,00,000+/month. Actual pricing depends on competition, scope, and the agency's experience.

Is cheap SEO (under ₹10,000/month) worth it?

Sometimes, if the scope is honest — a basic technical check, GBP setup, and a few pages optimized can genuinely fit a small budget. Be wary when a cheap package promises everything: rankings, dozens of keywords, and hundreds of links. That combination usually means corners are being cut somewhere you can't see.

Should I choose a freelancer or an agency?

Freelancers (commonly ₹10,000–₹25,000/month) can be excellent for focused work and smaller budgets, but bandwidth is limited. Agencies cost more but bring specialized skills — technical, content, and outreach under one roof. For a small local business, a good freelancer or a small agency both work; the deliverables matter more than the label.

How long before SEO shows results?

For a small business with a clean site, early wins (GBP improvements, low-competition keywords) can show in 2–3 months; meaningful organic growth typically takes 4–6 months. Anyone promising page one in 30 days is selling a fantasy.

Do I need a monthly package or a one-time project?

If your site mainly needs a cleanup — technical fixes, page optimization, GBP setup — a one-time project is often better value. Ongoing retainers make sense when you need continuous content, link building, and competitive response. Don't buy a retainer for a project-sized problem.
